BNBF Southern 2006
This was the first time in a new venue. It was held in
Budmouth College Weymouth.
The venue was a lot more spacious than the old venue and it had a good big
stage and with loads of room for trade stands.
The numbers were down this year but a change of venue and change of date
may have affected the numbers. The competitors and audience all seemed to
have a good day so I am sure it will be back to its normal high numbers
next year. There was a large, loud and very enthusiastic audience which
always helps make a great show.
Well done Sean another successful competition.
Juniors
1st Dan Hanekom
Dan is an excellent junior with a very well balanced physique with a mass
of quality muscle with particularly great shoulders and arms. Dan had great
stage presence with a very Arnold like posing routine. Well done Dan! My
only advice would be a shade tighter with a darker tan for the Britain.
2nd Zirgham Ali Amin
Zirgham is a big lad with good shape and very broad shoulders. Zirgham needs
to come in a lot tighter to take on Dan but if in condition with less oil
it would have been a much tighter competition. Zirgham also needs to work
on his compulsory poses and be aware of his shoulders as he holds one higher
than the other throwing out his symmetry.
Novices
1st Michael Hannam
Michael is a very good novice with a lot of potential he has a wide back
and great sweep to his legs. He was a clear winner in this class. His weakness
was in his glutes and hams where he was a lot softer than anywhere else.
Great X shape and if harder will be among the favorites for the Britain.
2nd David Bloch
David has a small chunky physique which was well balanced and symmetrical.
He was slightly soft more so in the legs. For the Britain a bit harder and
a darker tan also watch what you do between judging and evening show as
you smoothed out a little in the evening.
3rd Marcus Bowes
Marcus was in good condition with a very pleasant muscular upper body. He
stood a bit narrow which also emphasized his weakness which was that he
was slightly light in the legs. Marcus work on your compulsory poses!!
4th Darren Gutteridge
Darren had a lot of muscle was slightly light in the legs and needs to be
tighter. He could also work on his compulsory poses.
5th Ed Karikari
Ed had a great shape with a good v-taper and great sweep to his legs. However
he needs to be tighter to contest this class. There was very little detail
in his physique and what there was, was obscured by his tan which was not
complimentary.
6th Chris Barnes
Chris has a good physique with adequate muscle and a good shape. Needs to
be harder and use a darker tan.
4th – 6th could have gone anyway and they all have potential to make the final with better condition darker tans and a bit of work on the compulsories.
Master
1st Patrick Duffey
Patrick looked slightly soft during the symmetry round but has a balanced
physique so this did not affect him too much. The muscularity round he made
his own with polished posing and plenty of muscle. Needs to be tighter for
the Britain!
2nd Jeffery Worgan
Jeffrey has a very chunky physique with plenty muscle. He had one of the
best tans on the day. Jeffery needs to look at his trunks; he wears them
very low on his hips makes his legs look short and torso long which would
affect his placing in the symmetry round. Jeffrey’s legs were a bit
softer than his upper body a bit tighter for the Britain will see a better
challenge
3rd Richard Abbott
Richard has a very balanced aesthetic physique which placed him high in
the symmetry round, Richard was a bit lighter muscled than Patrick and Jeffrey
but with better compulsories he could have pushed them harder. Good polished
evening performance.
4th Roy Hodgson
Roy was in good condition and posed very well. Roy has good legs and a balanced
physique. He improves every outing and looked fuller this time.
5th Jeremy Worgan
Jeremy had adequate muscle and condition but needs to be tighter and darker
to contest this class. Just keep going you are heading in the right direction.
6th Simon Burdett
Simon has a very good upper body with good chest and arms. He poses his
upper body well and if we were only judging top half he would place much
higher. Simon seems to forget all about his legs when on stage he stands
with his legs straight on and doesn’t tighten them. Keep working on
putting size on your legs Simon and then show the judges.
Lightweights
1st Dan Millar
Dan was very balanced with great hard dry condition. Dans tan was excellent
and his physique was very aesthetically pleasing with lots of detail in
his legs especially in the side poses. Dan still needs to work on the compulsory
poses before the Britain.
2nd Tim Sharp
Tim was very hard but looked a bit flat especially during the day. Tim has
a balanced physique which he presented excellently with very polished posing.
Tim shone in the evening show and looked a bit fuller. With a bit fuller
muscles should do well in the Britain.
3rd Roy Hodgson (see masters 4th)
4th John Harrop
John has good legs but needs to be much tighter and have a darker tan.
Middleweights
1st Simon Burdett (see Masters 6th)
2nd Humphrey Ellis
Humphrey has big legs and carries a lot of muscle. Humphrey will need to
be much tighter with a darker tan for the Britain he will also need to put
a lot of work into his compulsory poses.
Heavyweights
1st Warren Harvey
Warren competed in the Novice last year and was too smooth this time what
a transformation. His condition was good he had a great tan and he smiled
throughout. Warren has great arms and chest. His weakness was his legs which
looked light for his upper body. However a bit of work on posing his legs
differently and a different pair of trunks would have made a big difference.
2nd Jason Harding
Jason has a good balanced physique and was in good condition. Jason needs
a bit more size for this class although a darker tan may have helped show
the muscle he did have. Jason also needs to come alive more on stage.
3rd Miro Chynarodsky
Miro was the most balanced on stage with the most mass but he was well out
on condition. Still needs a darker tan.
Miss Figure
1st Dawn louise Adams
Dawn was very vibrant with great enthusiasm and a fab smile. Dawn needs
to be tighter for the final and look at the compulsory poses she could present
herself better in the first two rounds.
Miss Physique
1st Lucy Smith
Lucy is the opposite of Dawn in that she is very sultry on stage. Lucy’s
upper body was in good condition but still needs to bring her legs in although
they were better than before. Lucy needs to look at her front relaxed pose
and her lat spreads as she has a wide back but pinches her shoulder blades
together when doing those poses which makes her look narrow.
Overall
Dan was the most balanced in the overall with great legs and in top condition.
Dan worked extremely hard and it was clear he was out to win the overall.
Well done Dan a great achievement at such a young age!!
